Acupuncture FAQ

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points in your body. Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of life force (qi) to restore the body to a healthy state. Western medicine views acupuncture points as places to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue. The result of stimulating these structures is the body’s biological healing processes can be directed to problem areas for healing.

how does it work?

Acupuncture has been around for AT LEAST 2500 years. There is no definitive answer for how it works, but we do know it DOES work. Current research uses the theory that each needle produces a tiny and sterile injury that causes little to no discomfort. This micro-injury lets the body know it needs to respond. The acupuncture channels make it possible to direct the healing response to areas of the body that aren’t necessarily at the insertion site.

whY community acupuncture?

The market rate for acupuncture is anywhere from $65 to $250 per hour. The community model enables the acupuncturist to make the typical hourly rate for a practitioner to remain in business without passing that cost along to an individual patient. It is important for patients to come in for a course of treatments and then regular treatment after that. The high-volume low-cost model makes it possible to for people to get enough acupuncture to be effective and allows them to come back for tune-ups and stress relief as needed.

Community Acupuncture

At The Bodhi Tree holistic healing, we believe that everyone deserves access to high-quality healthcare. That's why we're proud to offer community acupuncture, a powerful and sustainable model of healing that makes regular acupuncture treatments affordable and accessible for our entire community.

In traditional China, acupuncture was—and still is—practiced in a group setting. Patients would gather in a common space, such as a large room, to receive treatment together. This model is both efficient and effective.
In our community acupuncture clinic, you will receive treatment in a spacious, quiet room alongside other patients. You will relax in a comfortable recliner, fully clothed, while your practitioner inserts a few carefully selected needles, primarily in points on your head, ears, hands, and feet. This allows you to rest and receive treatment while your practitioner is able to check in on and treat other patients.
This model allows us to significantly reduce the cost per treatment, removing the financial barrier that often prevents people from getting the care they need.

Acupuncture is a cumulative medicine. While a single session can provide relief, the true benefits are unlocked through a series of regular treatments. Community acupuncture is designed to facilitate this consistency.
* Dose-Dependent Therapy: For many conditions, from chronic pain to anxiety, a consistent "dose" of acupuncture is necessary to retrain your body and mind. It's like building muscle at the gym—you wouldn't expect to see results from a single workout.
* Affordable Frequency: Because our treatments are offered on a sliding scale, you can afford to come in more often, especially during the initial phase of your treatment plan when more frequent sessions are recommended.
* The Power of Collective Healing: The quiet, shared space of a community clinic fosters a supportive and calming environment. Many clients report that the group dynamic enhances their sense of peace and relaxation, knowing they are part of a collective healing experience.

What is Community Acupuncture?

The Power of Consistent, Regular Care

Fact: Your practitioner will have a brief but focused discussion with you at the beginning of each session. We are trained to make accurate diagnoses and select the right points quickly and efficiently. While you are resting, we are in the room, constantly monitoring you and the other patients. The magic of acupuncture happens while you are resting with the needles in—not during a lengthy conversation.
